Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about registering your UAE will online with WILL24.

What happens if I die without a Will in the UAE?+

Without a registered will, UAE inheritance rules may apply by default. Assets, including bank accounts, can be frozen and distributed according to default legal principles — not your wishes.

Is the whole process really online?+

Yes. Drafting, notarisation by video, and registration are all remote. You never need to visit a government office, court or our premises.

Can I create a UAE Will while overseas?+

Yes. As long as you are a UAE resident or have UAE-based assets, you can complete the entire process from abroad — including the video notarisation.

Can I appoint guardians for my children?+

Yes. A registered will is the proper instrument to nominate guardians for minor children resident in the UAE.

Can I include UAE property in my Will?+

Yes. UAE real estate, bank accounts, vehicles, business shares and personal effects can all be covered.

Can I update my Will later?+

Yes. Wills can be amended or replaced. We'll handle the update through the same registry.

What is the difference between ADJD and DIFC?+

ADJD is the federal route used by most residents and is valid across all seven Emirates. DIFC applies English common law and suits non-Muslims with significant or complex assets.

What's the difference between Dubai Courts and DIFC?+

Dubai Courts is the traditional Dubai route. DIFC is a separate registry governed by English common-law principles, often chosen by expats and high-net-worth individuals.

How long does registration take?+

Standard wills typically take 1–2 weeks end to end. The Fast Track Will is ready in 24–48 hours.

Which will type do I need?+

Most residents choose the Single Will (ADJD). Couples often choose the Mirror Will. DIFC wills suit those with complex estates or a common-law preference.

Is the will legally valid across the UAE?+

Wills registered with ADJD are recognised across all seven Emirates. Dubai Courts wills cover Dubai. DIFC wills cover Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah assets.

Can couples register together?+

Yes — the Mirror Will is designed exactly for that. Two coordinated wills, one streamlined process.

What documents do I need?+

Typically your Emirates ID, passport, marriage certificate (if applicable) and a list of your main assets. We'll guide you on the questionnaire.

Are government fees included in the price?+

Yes. All prices shown include the official government registration fees.

Is WILL24 a law firm?+

No. WILL24 is a document preparation and registration service that works with official UAE authorities and court-approved notaries.

How is the video notarisation done?+

You join a secure video call with a court-approved notary, who verifies your identity, witnesses your signing and authenticates the will.

What if I have assets outside the UAE?+

A UAE will covers your UAE-based assets. We recommend separate wills for assets in other jurisdictions; we can advise on coordination.

Can non-Muslims register a will in the UAE?+

Yes. All major registries (ADJD, Dubai Courts, DIFC) accept wills from non-Muslims, with DIFC specifically designed around common-law principles.

Can Muslims register a UAE will?+

Yes. Muslims typically register through ADJD or Dubai Courts in line with Sharia principles for their estate.

Is my data secure?+

Yes. We use encrypted storage and follow strict confidentiality protocols. Only you and authorised reviewers ever see your information.

Can I name multiple beneficiaries?+

Yes. You can split your estate by percentage, by asset, or in any other lawful arrangement, including conditional gifts.

What about my business shares?+

Business shares can be included. We'll guide you on the proper clauses and any corporate documentation needed.

Do I need a witness?+

The video notarisation handles witnessing in line with the relevant registry's requirements. You don't need to provide your own witnesses.

What if I move out of the UAE?+

Your registered UAE will remains valid for your UAE-based assets. If your circumstances change significantly, we recommend updating it.

Can I add or remove beneficiaries later?+

Yes. Wills can be revised at any time through a formal amendment or a new registered will.

Is there a payment plan?+

We offer transparent one-time pricing. For larger DIFC matters, contact us — we can discuss instalment options.

What if I'm a tenant and not a property owner?+

A will is still essential — it covers bank accounts, vehicles, investments, business interests and guardianship of children, not just property.

How quickly will I receive my registered will?+

Most standard wills are registered and delivered within 1–2 weeks. Fast Track is 24–48 hours.

Do you serve clients in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and other Emirates?+

Yes. Because everything is online, we serve clients across all seven Emirates and abroad.
